Jo-Jo’s Coffeehouse Review. Scottsdale, AZ.

This place had a good atmosphere. Looks like a hangout for 20 somethings in Scottsdale’s downtown district. I ordered the Traditional Breakfast, which consisted of eggs over-medium, potatoes, and sourdough toast. I thought the breakfast tasted good, but thought it was overpriced for the amount of food I got. For the potatoes, all I got was 5 cubes. The bill was around $20.

Moving to Phoenix

I recently gave up everything from my hometown of Detroit and moved to the Phoenix area. I’ve had this dream since I was in my middle 20’s to move into a warmer climate and avoid the long winter in Michigan. Year after year I tried, by doing things like applying for jobs in different states, visiting these states and applying for jobs there, all with failure. I never gave up on my dream though. I knew when I was in Michigan and it started snowing, I knew I would have to wait at least another year.

Then I got a job at the Post Office. I was surprised to learn that they accepted transfers to other states, as long as you worked there for at least 18 months. I applied for transfers for every warm state and city I could think of. After almost giving up, I finally got accepted for a transfer to Phoenix, AZ in July 2020! One of my dreams finally came true and I lived here for over a year!

About My Hobbies

Besides designing websites, I like to sing karaoke on Saturday nights and go to the gym twice a week. One of my favorite things to do is travel and see places that I’ve never seen before. My usual preference is to visit sunny places, or places that are warmer than my current home state of Michigan. Places that I have already visited are California, Florida, and Hawaii. I plan to visit Arizona this Easter with my son. I also like to go to the Motor City casino in downtown Detroit about once a month. When I’m not outside the house, I enjoy watching movies or playing guitar.

Worst Movies I’ve Ever Seen

Battlefield Earth

This was one movie I could not wait to be finished. This was the only movie I have ever seen where I felt like walking out.

Who’s that Girl?

Whoever thought that Madonna could act had a bad idea. I think Madonna should stick to things that she is good at.

Showgirls

If you want to see a showgirl dancer throwing fits every few minutes, then this is the movie for you. It still entertains me for some reason. Maybe because it is so stupid it is amusing.

Explorers

I saw this movie as a kid. I don’t remember much of it but I remember laughing real loud at the stupid humor.

Universal Health Care

There is one subject that is definitely open for debate: Universal health care. There is no reason why health care should not be free for all.

There are many things that are done for profit. There is no question that people need money to buy things. But health care should not be one of them. Think about this: If money is to be made from people’s health, isn’t it good business for people to be unhealthy? Since make an unhealthy person healthy costs money, shouldn’t they deny the coverage just because it’s costing them money? If you take the money out of the equation, then doctors would be giving people health care because it is the right thing to do. But our country and government does not work like that. They figure if there is money to be made from it, they will keep doing it that way.

I’m not saying that having health care that is run by the insurance companies is a bad thing. The reason the insurance is there to begin with is to offset the high cost of health care. But to make them in total control of whether you get coverage or not is wrong. It should be for everyone, regardless of their situation.

Convenience fees

If there ever is an example of capitalism in America, it is convenience fees. These are fees for the convenience of having to pay bills online. Back in the old days, the only way to pay a bill was to send it through the mail. Today, with the invention of the Internet, people can pay their bills from anywhere. So why are we being charged for this? Is it costing them any extra money to accept your money from the internet, instead of the mail? Are we paying just simply because its easier on us?

A good example of paying convenience fees is having to choose between a car that has a hard top and one that has a soft top. A convertible obviously cost more if it has to use the extra steel or plastic to use on the whole section of the car. But to replace it with cotton and fiber is obviously the less expensive way. Anyone who knows anything about cars knows that buying a convertible with a rag top is more expensive than a hard top. You are paying for the convenience of just pressing a button than having two people lift the top off.

Convenience is just another way for the companies to get more money from you. It should not make a difference between which way you pay your bill, as long as it gets paid. Convenience fees should be eliminated from every website and illegal because it is obviously a way for the companies to get more money from you.

The new Trump administration

There are a lot of people out there who are concerned about Donald Trump becoming our new president. I have to say, I was a little concerned about it at first. But when it came between having another Clinton in the White House. I would choose Donald Trump. Based on what I have heard about Hilary, with the Benghazi incident and the deletion of 30,000 e-mails, I would choose Donald Trump. I am tired of having these politicians in the White House who are always doing the same things and cater to only a certain group of people. We have had a few presidents in the past who were there for rich people and put there by rich people. Presidents like McKinley, Reagan, and George W. Bush have catered to the rich more than the poor. I have nothing against rich people because I believe they work very hard for what they have today, but not when it is taking advantage and exploiting all the other people.

I think we should give Donald Trump a chance. He is the only president that I can think of that has no political experience and I think that is a good thing. Just because you have experience does not make you better at your job, it just means doing your job the way you are used to. If in 4 years, he is not doing a good job, feel free to remove him from office.
